Craig: Hello Kickstarter! Ever hear about it? Well, I launched one, and there was a lot of misunderstandings about it. People seem to think it’s me asking for hand outs, that’s not the case at all. Kickstarter is a web based tool to help people get funding to launch either a new product, a business, or any project really! Basically, if you have something you want to do, but don’t have the finances to do it, you promise incentive packages to people if they pledge a certain amount of money to your project. My family and I are opening an art/tattoo/machine shop in Rome Ga, and could use some help raising capital. We have amazing incentives from hats to tats! Our goal is to raise $20,000 toward building a studio space in a beautiful old house we found in the historic district. At this new space we will be working on every aspect of our trade, tattooing, making machines and arm rests, laser etching, screen printing, everything! And the way I see it, a trade is meant to be passed on, so our children will be a big part of our dream!

Tattooing has changed a lot since I got involved with it in the early 90’s. The amount of people getting tattooed and its acceptance in main stream life, the ease at which you can find tattooers, equipment, and learning material is unbelievable! It has gotten so big that for the last ten years there have been numerous television shows about it. All of this goes hand and hand with the growth of the world and how we communicate, the advancement of technology. Things like iPad and iPhones, We even see crazy technical leaps forward in tattooing equipment!

I have also grown in the last 25 years or so, and my involvement with tattooing has also changed. Tattooing is a trade, and since before recorded time trades were passed down from generation to generation, something that time has seemed to taken away from us. In the last 25 years I have traveled, tattooed, and learned, I got married, and started a family and my values have changed! No longer is tattooing and partying my #1 priority! Now my kids are. And being close to them, and teaching them my trade.

Economists is just a part of the human experience, and a big part of tattooing, yes tattooing is fun and a great way to express your creativity, but it is also the way we earn a living. I for one, and am not the only tattooer I know like me, grew up in a broken home, and didn’t get a lot of schooling and what I did get was mostly in art class. I was never taught proper economists, and in tattooing the seminars I was most interested in were on the technical side of my trade (theres that word again TRADE) I have been working on different areas of life, and my trade to be better at them. When you only work on your line work tho, the other areas of your work will suffer. That’s the real trick of life is balanced, knowing where to push, and pull!

My wife Danielle and I have been working on the best way to find balance. We have moved to Rome Ga it’s a quiet small town that we could get way more bang for our buck! Property costs are low, so we could get both a bigger home and shop, allowing us the room in the shop for not only Danielle to tattoo with me, but to have a big sectioned off space for a full kitchen and play area for the kids, and since its a free standing house theres a fenced in backyard for a swing set and a sandbox! Letting us be close with the kids always! Since location is a big part of tattooing I will be slowing down on tattooing and working other aspects of the trade, like making machines, screen printing, books, cool packaging, soap, armrests, again to find balance. It’s so exciting to have this all under one roof, I have always wanted to make an arm rest that combined all my favorite features that I have used over the years!  Danielle will do the bulk on the local tattooing at the shop, and I will continue to work on large scale tattoos. The most exciting of all will be teaching my kids all of these skills!

This set up is only a small undertaking, but since we just had our 4th child Xander, and moved across the country our funds are low, so we decided to have a Kickstarter campaign to help rase capital. We have a ton of stuff on there for sale (far lower then regular price) we are hoping to rase $20,000 for this project. You can see it at
