It’s Valentine’s Day! (At least it was when this was written.) So we’re going to talk about romantic tattoos.
A lot of people think the most romantic tattoo you can get is the name or initials of the person you love tattooed in a fairly public, seeable location on your body. We here at Tattoo Artist Magazine call those people morons. Tattooing a significant other’s name on your body is one of the top five clichéd tattoo rookie mistakes out there. Do yourself and your loved one a favor, don’t make that kind of commitment. We live in a world where probability dictates that you’ll regret it.
That being said, you and your significant other can still get clever romantic tattoos. Why get a name when you can each get half of an image on either side of your arms to signify your bond? Like necklaces for couples that come together to create a heart or some other lovey-dovey image? There are a couple examples shown below, like the wrist X and O or the King and Queen of Hearts tattoos.
We realize that there are plenty of people out there who don’t have dates on Valentine’s Day. In fact, it’s becoming more common each year, hence the timely release of movies like How to Be Single. There’s no shame in being single during the holiday, and there are plenty of ways to express your love for yourself and your single status. After all, you can’t truly love someone else until you learn to love yourself.
The point is, there’s a perfect Valentine’s Day tattoo for you whether your current relationship status is Single, Married, or It’s Complicated. Just check out the beautiful tattoo gallery below and you’ll see what we mean.
